George Meyer, Advisor
George Meyer, US Army Lieutenant Colonel, Retired – Over 28 years of global service. George enlisted in the early 1980’s into Air Defense Artillery, serving in Germany as a Fire Control Crewmember and a “Stinger” Missile Crewmember. He then served in the Hawaii National Guard as an Infantry Platoon leader on the island of Kauai. Commissioned in the Hawaii Army National Guard in 1993; he was able to become Airborne, Air Assault and Pathfinder qualified. He then served as an Infantry Company Commander for Bravo Company, 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry, in Pago Pago, American Samoa.
Minimize (277 Less Words)George served at the USAJFKSWC, Fort Bragg as a Civil Affairs Instructor, he then deployed to Afghanistan where he served as a Battle Captain in support of the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force (CJSOTF) Bagram, Afghanistan. This is where he gained a keen awareness and appreciation for accurate aerial imagery and the value of unmanned aerial systems.
He then served on the NORAD-USNORTHCOM staff as a Joint Exercise Planner in Colorado Springs. He gained an ardent appreciation for defense support to civil authorities at this position; he was then selected to support FEMA Region II (New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands) as a Regional Desk Officer, reporting directly to the Deputy Commander of USNORTHCOM.
George continued his service as a Deputy Defense Coordinating Officer in support of FEMA Region VII, (Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska). George retired from an Army staff position at Fort Belvoir, Virginia in 2018. George applied his UAS knowledge coupled with his understanding of air defense to work for a defense contractor in support of Combat and Development Integration, Quantico Marine Corp Base, Virginia to support counter drone and counter sUAS programs of record.
George is a graduate of National University, San Diego, CA with a Bachelor of Business Administration, the US Army Command and General Staff College, The George Marshall Center, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs with a Masters Certificate in Homeland Defense, as well as numerous Department of Defense courses. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, hiking and taking drone video of surfers along the San Diego North County Coast with his Mavic Pro and DJI goggles and is active member of AUVSI, Lindberg Chapter, San Diego.
